When speaking of the Fire In the Night Internship, Corey Russell said this:
I mean there is nothing bad that's going to happen in a season of giving yourself to this. There's no fears... The worst thing that's gonna happen is... [chuckles] ... you get desperate for Jesus and you get a real pain in your heart.

1. Prayer for revelation of Jesus’ beauty and the Bride’s destiny unto transforming our heart

As many of you may know, I, personally, have removed all secular music from my library. I am not saying this to say "I'm better than you," because I'm not. In the eyes of God, we are all equal, and equally loved. However, I am saying this because I have noticed that, as far as my own life is concerned, secular music greatly affects my thoughts and behavior, whether I know it or not. This article that I have pasted below is NOT an article I have written, although I support most, if not all the content within it. It was Written by Seth Yates, who is a musician at the International House of Prayer (IHOP) in Kansas City, Mo. I have never met this person, but one of my VERY good friends who is also at IHOP knows him and trusts him. This is not the only source on this topic. I have run across (but have not watched) several videos on Youtube about Rock artists who have sold their souls. (Search "They sold their souls for Rock and roll" on youtube... something like 15 or so videos.) I have not watched this because they play extended segments of songs, and show clips from concerts and music videos that i cannot bear to see or hear, because it literally makes me feel icky and nasty all over. anyway. Back to the subject at hand. I believe that the best information in this packet is in the seven dreams that Seth Yates had, which are at the end of the article. As in the bible, God shows people things through dreams. Just as God showed Joseph that he would one day rule over his brothers and parents, I believe God can inform us of future events, as well as current situations and information about various subjects through dreams. Whatever God wants to show us, He can.

Music is mentioned 839 times in the Bible. We’re told to sing to God over 200 times in the Bible. The music that is in our life should be taken seriously. I was into secular music for a long time and felt convicted many times to give it up. At first I just gave up what was blatantly evil and not a good influence on me. Then I gave it up completely. But eventually, cd by cd, went back completely. I tried to give up secular music a couple of times and finally got to a point where I wanted to be done with it forever. I didn’t want to just do it though. I wanted to know why. I wanted to have some hard evidence to help me really understand why I was doing it. I did some research and was shocked at what I found. I could see clearly the spiritual battle that was going on with and through music. These few pages are some of the roots behind secular music and some information about certain secular artists you might not know. This is just a little bit of information to help you catch a glimpse of what is behind secular music.
The next section is about Aleister Crowley. Aleister Crowley is important because he is at the root of so much teaching that has influenced secular musicians today.
Aleister Crowley:
professed Satanist living during the early 1900’s whose life and teachings are behind the Church of Satan, the New Age Movement(Age of the Antichrist), Gay Pride Movement, 60’s Drug Revolution(including Timothy Leary), Eastern Mysticism Movement in America, Scientology, Charles Manson and many other notorious murderers, many new occultic teachings. Crowley’s teachings, including ‘The Book Of The Law’, has influenced more secular artists than most would believe.
-is called the “Father of Modern Satanism”
-sacrificed 100’s of children to Satan and was run out of Italy and called by the press of his day “The wickedest man on earth”
-claimed Satan possessed him and dictated a book to him called the ‘The Book Of The Law’
-“Do which thou wilt shall be the whole of the law” – theme of ‘The Book Of The Law’
-Crowley wrote in ‘The Book Of The Law’: “I am the snake that giveth knowledge and delight and bright glory, and stir the hearts of men with drunkenness…”
-Crowley taught that one could become a genius in music by practicing his Satanism
-called ‘The patron saint of rock and roll’
-said he believed in God and Satan and chose Satan
-called ’The Father of the New Age Movement’ because the ‘new age movement was based on his teaching of the ‘new aeon’ or ‘the age of the Antichrist’ - Aeon: transliteration of the Greek word “aion” meaning “age” - Time magazine published an article on the ‘New Age Movement’ not knowing where the term came from or where the movement was going
-Crowley promoted the New Age, New Aeon, Age of Horus, Age of Aquarius which are all terms for the age of the Antichrist
-Crowley: “Let me seduce the boys…and the oldsters may totter unconverted to their graves. Then these boys, become men, may bring about the new Heaven and the new Earth (new age or ‘aeon’)…but without an army I am useless…give me my army, young men; and we will sweep these dogs into the sea”
-Crowley wrote about “magick”, an occultic teaching with his signature ‘k’ in the word ‘magick’
-became an expert in over a dozen varieties of Hindu and Buddhist yoga… -Crowley promoted “yoga of all forms” - yoga means ‘to yoke’ and originally speaks of yoking yourself with pagan gods
-experimented with popular modern drugs before the 60’s revolution started
-Robert Anton Wilson wrote -”Crowley played a decided role in developing the philosophy or mystique of the Drug Revolution”
-Crowley taught:
-the synthesis of western occultism and eastern mysticism
-rebellion against all established authority, especially Christianity
-the establishment of the New World Order under the antichrist
-Crowley: “I turn therefore to America… to a nebulous mass which I expect to develop into an organized galaxy… every race, language and creed is represented… all Americans are eager for power, in one form or another”
-Timothy Leary – former Harvard professor - was using Crowley’s tarot cards and feels that he is Crowley reborn and is supposed to finish his work
-Timothy Leary: “Turn in tune in and drop out (take over)” was his catch phrase based on ‘do what thou wilt’ (Crowley) and was used in many radical protests
-Timothy Leary dubbed The Beatles as “The Four Evangelists” because they spread Crowley’s message ‘do what thou wilt’, promoted eastern mysticism and drugs
-Crowley said” His Satanic doctrine should be cloaked under the lie of love”
-Crowley declared his works were to be “circulated among the young”
-Crowley’s book ‘Magick Without Tears’ says: “Family: public enemy number one” and “Nearest obstacle to the age of the Antichrist was family”

-Scientology founded by L. Ron Hubbard (friends with Crowley) - basic idea was based on Crowley’s work – the occult, “the deep involvement with Satanic powers”
-Hubbard considered himself to be Crowley’s successor - Scientology started Dec. 1st 1947….the day Crowley died
-Crowley died addicted to heroine and fearful because he had not become the Antichrist which he thought had been promised to him by Satan

Today a fresh sound is coming forth in praise and worship. God is raising up men and women who are writing songs to bring the church to attention. These songs are teaching and admonishing us with the truths concerning spiritual warfare. As I read the Psalms, I have come to the conclusion that David would be branded a heretic by much of the religious community if he were alive today. THE WARFARE SONGS WRITTEN TODAY ARE MILD COMPARED TO WHAT DAVID WROTE.
God is raising up anointed prophetic songwriters to bring forth THE WAR SONGS OF ZION IN ORDER THAT THE CHURCH MAY BECOME THE FIGHTING ARMY THAT HE HAS CALLED IT TO BE. These songs are also bringing NEW ILLUMINATION of God’s character and nature. God declared 244 times in the Bible that He is the Lord of Hosts. This name is used five times more than any other descriptive or redemptive name of God. Lord of Hosts means “Lord of a mass of people organized for war.” HE IS THE LORD OF THE WARRING PEOPLE! Here are 7 dreams I had specifically addressing worship, secular music and the importance of our decisions regarding music in our lives...
DREAM #1
A few people from IHOP and Misty Edwards’ team are sitting in a small stone room about half the size of the briefing room. It seems like we are preparing for a worship set. I suddenly am aware that I am sitting next to an angel. I look to the angel and it acknowledges that it is an angel. I immediately start asking questions about the melodies of heaven and what worship sounds like in heaven. The angel begins to show me a melody (the music just started playing in the dream). All I hear is a few notes before someone in the room interrupts and says, "That sounds kid-ish, very child-like". Then I look and the angel is eating a piece of fruit that looks kind of like a peach, but I knew that it was something different. The angel could tell I wanted some and gives me a bite. It tastes sweet and I want more, but this time the angel puts the whole thing in my mouth. After that, a worship leader from IHOP leans over the angel and says, "Hey, we should do this song for worship tonight". He begins to play his acoustic guitar and it sounds like a full band - exactly like a cd. The song is "Sleepwalking" by John Mark McMillan. Everyone agrees and says, "It sounds awesome, just like the cd!” I speak up and say, "What about the melodies of heaven? The angel could give them to us right now!” Everyone says, "They sound too kid-ish, too child-like". At this point, the IHOP worship leader who was showing us the other song has slowly pushed the angel completely out of the way. The angel's name was made clear to me at that point: "Moriah".
Then I find myself standing in a funeral home. There are people all dressed up and a funeral service is going on. Some people are in chairs for the service, while others are standing and sitting in the room adjacent - just sort of hanging out. Suddenly the service is over. I'm shocked and ask the person next to me, "How come everyone wasn't in the service sitting together paying their respects and keeping things sacred?” The person next to me says, "Everyone has their own set of beliefs and customs so nobody says anything to anyone. No one offends anyone this way." At that moment, doors open and trays filled with desserts of every kind are put out for refreshments and everyone runs to the tables to eat. The dream ended.
I woke up and got immediate revelation on a few things:
1-The fruit that the angel was eating represented the anointing for true worship and the melodies of heaven
2-The worship leader playing the acoustic guitar that sounded like a cd represented us wanting to sound like others
3-We slowly pushed the angel out of the way because we thought the melodies of heaven were too child-like - having to do with child-like faith maybe as well (also the song we wanted to do was "Sleepwalking" - speaks for itself)
4-The angel's name was ‘Moriah’ - which has major significance in its geological location in the Bible. But the true meaning for the dream came when I looked up the name ‘Moriah’ in Hebrew. It means "God is my Teacher" or more accurately “God will provide”. This relates directly to us learning the melodies of heaven.
5-The funeral home scene represented a group of people that did not want to offend each other and therefore had no unity and certain things were not held sacred like they should have been. And the desserts represented the blessings from God (signs and wonders perhaps as well) and this group was ready to eat the dessert right away even though in the dream it seemed like nobody deserved it.
*2 weeks after I had this dream I specifically prayed for a melody from heaven while playing electric guitar during a 10pm Friday night Misty Edwards worship set at IHOP. The very first thing I played after praying is the opening guitar line for the song ‘My Soul Longs For You’. I’ve had people who don’t even speak English and can’t understand the words to the song overseas talk about how that particular melody has ministered to them. The song can be found on IHOP’s ‘One Thing Live 06’ cd/dvd if you’d like to hear it.
DREAM #2
I find myself in the end times, a few years down the road. Sin is out of control. There are people partying everywhere non stop. I walk into a frat house looking place that has had the front door ripped off. People are drinking, doing drugs and whatever they want. I walk down the hall and see someone from IHOP sitting in a white plastic chair facing the wall. This person represented someone strong in Lord at IHOP. She turns to me with a dead sort of look. Her eyes were dead. She had given up. The end times were too hard for her and she was now useless – not doing good or bad (which ultimately means bad in the end).
Overhead I hear music. I’m totally enchanted by it. It is sucking me and hypnotizing me. This music is hypnotizing everyone. It is demonically supercharged and demonically anointed. It is melodic, has a great trance type beat, and basically anything anyone would want in music. In the dream I know the music is evil but I wanted that sound. I realized people would kill for that sound and do anything to get it. I was waging war in my mind in the dream trying to remember that the music was not of God. I move over to the cd player in the house to see what is playing and I find a lot of cds. I take out the cds and throw them on the ground and try to sort out the Christian from the secular. I start and there are a few obvious Christian bands. But, after a while, it becomes too hard because the bands aren’t clear which side they are on. Right then, I look up and see a small cd player playing in the corner. It was playing a song that had the chorus, “Just choose”.
When I woke up I figured out the chords to the “Just choose” chorus right away and tried to remake the enticing music I heard earlier as best I could on a guitar and came up with a chord progression that fits it pretty well. The revelation from the dream was that while lawlessness and sin abound in the end-times, secular music will be demonically anointed on a new level. Satan hasn’t released his “greatest hits” so to say. People who are strong in the Lord now will be in danger of falling away.
